Okay, so a lot of people are getting confused on where to submit things or they just submit to the wrong folder on accident, but I'm getting a bit tired of having to repeat myself (don't feel guilty or anything, it's just that people don't know) So here are some updated submissions guidelines.

DIGITAL ART V5
Completed Pictures Finalized on THE COMPUTER go here. IF IT WAS ENTIRELY MADE WITH A PENCIL ON PAPER, IT DOES NOT GO HERE I cannot stress this enough.
however, if it was sketched on paper and finished on the computer, it may be submitted here.

TRADITIONAL ART V2
Completed pictures done entirely on paper with copics/colored pencils/crayons/paint etc. go here.
Please DON'T submit pictures like this into digital art. So many people have made this mistake.
PLEASE NOTE: that if it was sketched on paper, and was finished on the computer, IT GOES INTO DIGITAL ART

ANTHRO
Pictures of dragons with a human-like body go here. THEY MUST BE WEARING CLOTHES OF SOME SORT. No Mature artwork in this folder please.

SKETCHES WIP

Uncompleted pictures/sketches/inks go here. Digital AND traditional. If It's not finished yet, it goes here

MISCELLANEOUS

Anything that doesn't fit in the other folders go here. Vectors/dolls/Pixel art etc; they all go here

FAN ART

If this is art of a copyrighted character, it goes here. Spyro/How to train your dragon/Dragon-type Pokemon go here.

LITERATURE

Any writing (poems/short stories/novels/etc.) Go here.

MATURE
All mature art goes here (Heavy blood and gore/... nudity/etc.). Please, PLEASE put a filter. just out of courtesy for other members when it comes into their inbox.

ADOPTABLES

Pictures of characters FOR SALE go here, not characters you adopted. Please only submit them if they are OPEN.

COMICS

Short comics/comic pages/covers go here. Not much to it.

REFERENCE SHEETS
Can't really find the words to describe a reference sheet.
Magma Ref. by SolarPaintDragon <- Things like this go here.

CONTEST ENTRIES

Submissions for our current contest (thedragonland.deviantart.com/j… ) Go here.

SCRIBBLES

Pictures from www.iscribble.net/ Or just random colored sketches go here.

TUTORIALS

Show us how you draw your dragons! all artworks along those lines go here.

DO NOT SUBMIT:

Journals; journals (commissions, information, contests, etc) won't be allowed to submit and will be automatically declined, also deviations about commission information. This is a group strictly dedicated to dragon art not for advertising.
Non-dragon art; This group is strictly dedicated to dragon art, no matter how good nor advanced your art is, it must be dragon art if you want to submit it to our group.

also, PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT TO CLOSED FOLDERS!! they will be automatically declined

Please respect these rules before submitting anything or simply asking the admins a question, thank you!

Best Regards.

Hey, would this lady be okay to submit? Just wondering, because I know a lot of groups are really strict against nudity.

Would an upper-body shot of an unclothed-but-tastefully-drawn-from-the-back half-dragon lady be ok to submit (I assume to anthro)?
Just wanted to check, apologies for the run-on-question =)

We have the folder "Miscellaneous" for it, for now.
I could ask if it's possible for a new folder.

so figures that are made by a company can go in there? Just to make sure.

That would be my best guess, you can ask our admin, he would know for sure.

Artisan crafts would include basically anything that you make that isn't a drawing, like a sculpture of some sort, figures in your case, but I think they have to be made by you, but ask the admin just to be safe :3

Weak of a group that staffers don't even see the need to answer questions... especially after that long time. Doesn't look like a group to be in.

You're a professional, so let me try to explain in that sense.

If we'd talk about any group which is fairly large (Over 5,000+ members), if the group doesn't function well, the real reason to be in such a group is exposure. My experience is, that as long as your artwork is good (I think yours is), if you submit those to large groups, you are guaranteed to get some exposure. That is also if the group doesn't actually operate - it would have a lot of viewers nevertheless.

#TheDragonLand seems to have a lot of success because it's one of the largest dragon-themed groups on dA. But it has it's own flaws, like what I've noticed.

Ie. I've signed up my group to be an affiliate of #TheDragonLand, but I cannot recall the admins have ever had time to write text longer than one sentence back at me. I would imagine this is because they no longer have time, and this can be because there are too many questions and too few people instructed to answer them.

In the sense of community the group would do with a bit of improving, I honestly agree. :( Only if the staff would listen to me... Many people seem to use this group primarly as a tool to promote their artwork.

Exposure is not my primary goal. This exposure thing is anyways a huge joke. Posting in large groups for exposure doesn't work at all. This only work for lemming-collectors and these don't need exposure anymore. The only thing that can happen is that you attract these so called "collectors" which are worthless as there comes nothing constructive in return comment wise or opinion wise. Collecting favs is as useless as collecting sand: you can't do anything useful with it.

It's excellent if you can think of that way.

My opinion is that favs work to some degree: to see which kind of people like your works, collecting artwork for any serious purpose (ie. art collection) and contact potential (ie. selling commissions, establishing trust). Otherwise favs are just as you had described: messages of appreciation and then rarely anything more.

I even doubt that. The most favs I've seen so far are collectors with next to no deviations at all. Some times some 100k+ members but you hear never again of them nor do you get any clue on why something is faved and others not (which is actually better). Favs are just helluva random. Commisions and trust is also something I don't see spouting from these kinds of favs. To be honest I had not a single contact in any way over two years from this faving system. Some people notoriously call this a DA-Sphere but reality is more like a DA-Solidatry-Cell.

Assuming you've used dA for 8+ years I need to believe you.

That really is too bad. A lot of dA seem to be a popularity contest, something perhaps better suited for teenagers rather than serious artist. It itself gives a challenge how could an artist use deviantART for his good well enough.

We were going to but on Saturday, since we were announcing other stuff, and we didn't want to annoy making lots of journals xD
However we had to make the change now, because the Digital Art V3 was starting to get full and we can't allow us to keep making digital art folders x,DDDD :glomp:

Yeah, I noticed. People seem to upload a lot of digital stuff that they dont seem to put much effort into....oh well

I pointed this out to someone else but you could just use the option that our normal journals have and when you edit them, unclick the "this is a minor edit" and it'll send us a notification instead of having to make a whole new journal to update us on something...

I've bee looking around and im not necessarially seeing it, but is there a limit to how many pictures we can submit during any amount of time? I know some groups are only like 1-3 a week because they don't want to over flood their watchers and wanted to make sure I don't do the same, cause since Im new I wanted to go ahead and add some of my dragons

Generally the allowed submissions amount per day is up to 10, although there are some exceptions in the folders.
